HESPRI Workshop WP1: Global Aspirations, Institutional Realities: Rethinking Internationalization and Women’s Advancement in Higher Education

Higher education systems are increasingly confronted with common challenges, including internationalization, academic excellence, and gender equality. Although these issues are shared across countries, the ways in which they are understood, translated into policy, and implemented vary considerably according to institutional and national contexts. Through comparative perspectives, this workshop examines how global models and policy agendas are negotiated within universities while also considering women’s representation in other spheres of public life. By connecting these different perspectives, it aims to stimulate reflection on the institutional and societal conditions that enable the transformation of higher education into more inclusive, equitable, and socially engaged institutions.
